In the largest battle in the Afghan theater since 2001, this is the kind of scum of the earth our military has to deal with...
From the Associated Press, Sunday, February 21, 2010 -
"On Sunday, Marine squads in the western section of Marjah used missiles to destroy a large, abandoned school compound that had been booby-trapped with explosives in Marjah. The school had been shut down two years earlier by the Taliban, residents told Marines.
"They said they would kill the father of any child that went to school," said farmer Maman Jan, deploring that his six children were illiterate."

Yes they make bad choices that harm others, but don't forget - they are also children of God, something you profess to be in your profile. I just finished reading "The Hiding Place" and Corrie Ten Boom recalls that when she was in Ravensbruck concentration camp with her sister Betsie, Betsie tells her that after the war she plans to open a home for the guards to care for them and teach them that "love is greater." Betsie died shortly thereafter in the camp but Corrie survived to carry out Betsie's dream. People that have been taught to hate can be taught to love.
I hope you paid special attention to the fact that neither Betsie nor Corrie opened up that home UNTIL the war was over. The nazis would not learn love until they were forced from power. Who could teach them until they are force?
The Taliban, similarly will do unspeakably evil things UNTIL they are forced to stop. For example, it has been widely reported that in this battle the insurgents are putting unarmed women and children in front of themselves while firing upon coalition troops. This is not merely cowardly. You have to be a particular kind of bad to do that.
Because our troops are not evil, we are not allowed to shoot at terrorists who use human shields because we don't want to harm the civilians.
But my main point is that the Taliban are evil and they are using their agency, as children of God, to do great evil. To teach them to love will be wonderful, once we stop them from murdering and oppressing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan, providing the world with heroin (Afghanistan is the world's leader in that trade) and supporting international terror.
Oh yes, I am very much in line with what our troops are doing and know that the Taliban must be forced from power. The point I was trying to make was that wouldn't it be great if we could enlarge our hearts and speak of them as children of God, instead of name-calling.
Why can't the Father teach his kids to read?
